Thanks for joining us today. Winsbe was created as a effort to level the playing field for students that are doing things right.
After my wife graduated in late 2008 with $60,000 in school dept she began her job search. With a desire to help people and four year degree
she came across several openings. She took a job that she loves. The problem was pay, her starting pay was $10.00 per hour. At 40 hours a
week her 2 week pay checks after taxes came in at about $705.00, just enough to cover her student loan payment.
If her first 2 weeks of work pay for her student loan, then the next two weeks equal her spending money for things like food and bills
That meant that she was working a whole month (160 hours) for $705 to put toward living expenses.
I did the math, $705/160hours meant she making less than $5.00/hr to spend on living expenses. With a 4 year degree!
She could have just skipped college and gotten an $8.00 per hour job and brought in a extra $1280 each month with no school loans.
WE HAD TO DO SOMETHING!
I searched everywhere for idea's and finally came up with the idea that if I could get everyone I know (about 200 people) to chip in say $10.00
each month I could pay off her loans in 3 years.
Great Idea, all my friends would be willing to help right?
Of course not, they all have their own bills.
Thats when I had the Idea that if I could find a way for them to help that didn't cost them anything at all I'd be on to something.

We had a hit! People were more that willing to use our site, and small amounts of money started coming in.
It didn't take long for me to find other people with the same problem as me, so we opened it up to students everywhere.
